Minor Prophets
by Suzie Klein Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahumm Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi Described as “minor” not because they’re less important than the books of the Major Prophets, but because they’re shorter in length (most of them can easily be read in a single sitting). Together, their indictments of Israel’s drift away from God set the stage for the New Covenant that will be ushered in with the person of Jesus Christ. |
Psalm 119
by Suzie Klein Psalm 119 is the longest psalm and the longest chapter in the Bible, consisting of 176 verses divided into twenty-two stanzas of eight verses each. It is an acrostic poem where each stanza begins with one of the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet, progressing from Aleph to Tav. All eight lines of each stanza begin with that same Hebrew letter. To me, that in itself is amazing. |
